केलवा जे फरेला घवद से, ओह पर सुगा मेड़राय मारबौ रे सुगवा धनुष से, सुगा गिरे मुरझाय। सुगनी जे रोवेली वियोग से, आदित होइ ना सहाय अमरु जे फरेला घवद से, ओह पर सुगा मेड़राय। काँच ही बाँस के बहंगिया, बहंगी लचकत जाय होइ ना बलम जी कहरिया, बहंगी घाट पहुँचाय। बाट जे पूछेला बटोहिया, बहंगी केकरा के जाय? तू त आन्हर हवै रे बटोहिया, बहंगी छठी माई के जाय।
Meaning & Context
The most iconic Chhath Puja song. It depicts a parrot ('Suga') hovering over the banana offerings. It's a metaphorical warning to protect the purity of the offering for the Sun God (Aditya). Also includes verses about the bamboo basket ('Bahangi') being carried to the river bank.
