Vachaspati Mishra

A 9th-century polymath and one of the greatest commentators in Indian history. Vachaspati Mishra wrote authoritative commentaries (Bhashyas) on nearly all major schools of Indian philosophy, including Nyaya, Sankhya, Yoga, Mimamsa, and Vedanta. His commentary on Shankara's work, known as 'Bhamati' (named after his devoted wife), established a distinct sub-school of Advaita Vedanta that flourished in Mithila.
