Ancient Sages & Philosophers
Mandan Mishra
An 8th-century colossus of the Mimamsa and Advaita Vedanta schools, Mandan Mishra famously debated the great Adi Shankaracharya at his home in Mahishmati (Mithila). Originally a staunch defender of ritualism (Karma Kanda), he became one of Shankara's greatest disciples (Suresvaracharya) after their historic debate. His works like 'Brahmasiddhi' are critical texts in non-dualist philosophy.
