Nagarjun (Yatri)

Vaidyanath Mishra, better known by his pen names Nagarjun (Hindi) and Yatri (Maithili), was the 'Janakavi' (People's Poet). A rugged wanderer and Marxist intellectual, his poetry captured the raw struggles of the peasantry and the corruption of the elite. His Maithili collection 'Patraheen Nagna Gachh' won the Sahitya Akademi Award. He remains a powerful voice of social realism in modern Indian literature.
