जय जय भैरवि असुर भयाौनि, पशुपति भामिनी माया सहज सुमति वर दिअओ गोसाउनि, अनुगति गति तुअ पाया। वासर रइनि शवासन शोभित, चरण चन्द्रमणि चूड़ा कतओक दैत्य मारि मुँह मेलल, कतओ उगिलि कैल कूड़ा। सामर वरण नयन अनुरंजित, जलद जोग फूल कोका कट कट विकट ओठ पुट पाँड़रि, लिधुर फेन उठ फ्वाका। घन घन घनन घुंघरू कत बाजय, हन हन कर तुअ काता विद्यापति कवि तुअ पद सेवक, पुत्र बिसरि जनि माता।
Meaning & Context
The most famous Gosaundi (Goddess hymn) by Vidyapati. It praises Goddess Bhairavi (Durga/Kali) as the terrifying destroyer of demons ('Asur Bhayauni') yet the bestower of wisdom ('Sahaj Sumati Var') to her devotees. It asks the Mother not to forget her son (the poet).
