Hareshwarnath Temple

The Hareshwarnath Temple in Madhubani is one of the most ancient and revered Shiva temples of the Mithila region. Housing an ancient Shivalinga believed to be self-manifested (Swayambhu), it draws tens of thousands of devotees during Maha Shivratri. The temple's intricate carvings reflect the finest Mithila craftsmanship. In 2026, it was selected for development under Bihar's Mithila Heritage Circuit tourism project, with funds allocated for beautification of the ghats, pilgrim facilities, and a cultural interpretation center.
